スライゴーはアイルランド北西部の中心的な町で
緯度的にかなり北にあるため、とても寒いように思われがちですが、
大西洋に暖流が流れているため一番寒い時期でも最低気温は３度前後と
日本の真冬とあまり変わりはないそうです。
また近年では、数ある国のなかで住みやすい国として注目されているそうですよ！
アイルランドは、想像力が搔き立てられるケルト神話を基にした
様々な伝承が沢山受け継がれています。
ノーベル賞を受賞した詩人イエーツは、
子供時代を過ごしたスライゴーでケルト神話を聞いて育ち、
スライゴーに伝わる妖精伝説を後に出版しています。
詩人イエーツが幼少時代に遊んだギル湖！
私も想像力を搔き立てられにギル湖にいきました。
粗削りの自然と、癒される優しい空間が広がっていました。
ホーチミンから南へ車で二時間。
フェリーに乗り換えて到着したのは、マングローブの森があるカンザー地区！
水辺から根を出して、無数に重なり合うように根をはって成長していく一帯をマングローブと呼ぶのだそうです。
木の名前がマングローブではなかったんですね！
構成する植物は100種類位あるんだそうです。

壊滅状態だった森に、ベトナム人の一人の若者の手で一本のマングローブの木が植えられたそうです。
その志は多くの人々の心を動かし、植林活動が進み７万５０００ヘクタールまで膨らみました。
戦後30年かかって豊かなマングローブの森は蘇ったそうです。
現在、自然保護区に指定され観光地として整備されています。

私達の到着のお出迎えと、次なる目的地までの案内をしてくれました。
ワンチャンは、後ろを振返りながら「こっちだよ！」とでも言うかのように
私達がちゃんとついてこれているかを確認しながら案内してくれました。
何とも穏やかで、平和な空気を身体一杯に浴びた一時でした。

ピュリッツアー賞を受賞した沢田教一さんの
「安全への逃避」戦火を逃げ惑う家族の写真がありました。
受賞作という事だけではなく、目を奪われ長い時間見入ってしまいました。

ベトナムの雨季は5～10月で乾季は11～4月です。
私は、最も暑い５月６月に毎年数回に渡り、
ベトナムで有名な手刺繡のお仕事で行かせて頂きました。
雨季の時期は、一日中雨が降っているわけではなく、
雲行きが怪しくなってきたなぁ～なんて思っていると
いきなりどしゃぶりの洗礼を受けました
近くのホテルに駆け込んでは、雨宿りさせて頂きました
20～30分もすると空は真っ青になり快晴です
濡れた路面や樹木の葉っぱに陽が反射し、雨上がりの街中はキラキラと輝いて見えました
緑豊かな街中を歩くのは、とても気持ちが良かったです

ホーチミン１区にある観光客にとってのメインエリア・ドンコイ通りは
お土産屋さんにレストランやホテル等が並んでいて、
西洋風の建物も多く、昼でも夜でも魅力的な通りでした。
因みに私が宿泊したホテルはドンコイ通りから、
２～３分入った場所にあるホテルで、ビジネスホテル並の料金でした。
でも、とても元気で明るいお部屋係りの女性に、何かと助けて頂きました。
お仕事での初めての海外でしたから、女性の優しさにとても感謝でした。

『刺繍絵画』の専門店もあって、手工芸品と言えども芸術品と言いたくなる位に、
みごとな作品が多かったです
刺繍絵画で有名なお店では、ヨーロッパのお城の風景、お花のガーデン等々、
華やかでみごとな刺繍作品が壁一面に飾られていました
また人物を刺繍した、その表現力のみごとさに驚かされました！
体温も感情も伝わってきます
私は水彩画を描いていますが、人物画は難しいです！
でも細い絹糸一本で、それも多色を使い分け、グラデーション技術を駆使して
陰影を作り、立体的に表現されてました
特に、人物の人生を物語るシワの表現力は、私自身も勉強になりました！
価格を聞いてみたらこれまた高価な物で驚きましたけど…納得でした！

現在は治療院や病院も作られています。
14世紀から同じ製法でつくられている薬局で調合されたクリームは、
地元の人や観光客に人気です。

早朝から湖畔散策！
静かな湖にうっすらと靄がかかり、幻想的な湖の景色に心を奪われました。

伝統のプレトナ・ボートに乗って湖の真ん中にある自然の島、ブレッド島へいきました。

ボルダーズビーチは、サイモンズタウンというリゾート地のような小さな町の海岸線にあります。
ケープタウンと喜望峰の真ん中辺りにあって、どちらからも車で40分程で着くそうです。
このビーチは野生のペンギン、アフリカ原産唯一のケープペンギンを近くで楽しめる
世界で唯一のビーチだそうです。
ビーチには遊歩道があるので、近くでペンギンを見る事ができました。
あまりの可愛さに興奮して、写真撮りまくりになりました!
この興奮の後、ガイドさんはペンギンが直面している問題をお話してくれた。
人の生活圏の近い場所に、ペンギンのコロニーがある事で、
人間との共存の問題、車の事故、環境汚染や気候変動、魚の乱獲によって
ペンギンの餌となる魚が激減し、絶滅危惧種に指定された事、等々・・・
私達人間にとっても他人事とは思えないお話でした。
動物たちの未来の為に・・・未来を生きて行く子供たちの為に・・・
この地球を守る為に・・・
私達は、今・・・
私営のマプラ動物保護区で、
広いアフリカの大地をいく３頭のキリンを見た！
それはそれは何と表現したらよいのか分からない
とても感動的な瞬間でした
そして子供のキリンに出会った
木々の間から顔を覗かせていた
可愛かった！
長く鋭いトゲで葉を守っているアカシアの木が好物で、
長い舌で鋭いトゲまで上手に巻き取って食べるそうだ！
ゲームドライブをしながらレンジャーさんは
動物達の食べるエサや
ブッシュマンの生活の知恵を教えてくれた
この自然がないと彼等は生きていけないし
動物達の領域を犯してはいけないこと
それは私達人間の生活の領域を守る事にも
繋がる事だと教えてくれた・・・
ゲームドライブの最後に、
とても見晴らしの良い所へ案内してくれた！
マプラ動物保護区は、ノーザン・プロビンス州のほぼ中央にあるのだそうだ
広さ8,000ヘクタール、全長1,300mの専用滑走路を備えている！
・・・と聞いても私の想像の外だった！
『この動物保護区はどこまでなの？』と訪ねた
『見えない！』
